Booking Tips
Insider advice to help you find the best accommodation.
Rooms at Chimelong Penguin and Circus hotels sell out for every Chinese holiday. Cancellations free until 7 days, so book early and adjust later.
Walking across the border takes 10 minutes. Macau hotels cost triple the Gongbei rates. Stay in Zhuhai and day-trip.
Dong'ao and Qi'ao resorts slash prices 40% Monday-Thursday. Ferries are empty and beaches quiet outside weekends.
When to Book
Timing matters for both price and availability.
Reserve 60-90 days ahead for May-October and Chinese New Year, Hengqin theme-park hotels.
March-April and November offer 25% savings. Two weeks ahead is enough for most areas except Hengqin.
December-February sees lowest occupancy. Walk-in rates common everywhere except Chimelong weekends.
Theme-park resorts need 60 days. City hotels 14 days; island resorts 30 days due to limited ferry capacity.
